The C.A.R.E. Travel Award Program

The Vancouver-based C.A.R.E. Housing Society operates a long-standing co-operative charitable program in conjunction with Cathay Pacific Airlines Asia Miles program. C.A.R.E. distributes donated Asia Miles points to make air flights possible for family reunification; and humanitarian work in developing countries and disaster areas including health, rehabilitation, development and reconstruction projects in needy areas served by Asia Miles worldwide partner airlines.

Examples of projects supported by the C.A.R.E. Travel Award Program can be found at www.caresociety.com. If you feel you have a project that falls into the areas we cover, please download an application form from the C.A.R.E. Society website.

Projects in the following areas will be given priority consideration: senior citizens and family networks (eg. empowerment of seniors, intergenerational relationships and seniors providing parenting duties for their deceased adult children); education; engagement in civil society and governance; public health and hygiene; and social, economic and environmental sustainability.

For an example of projects we have supported in the past, please see "Bringing Medical Care to Children in the Indian Himalayas'

Other projects we have supported globally include:

* Tsunami reconstruction in India
* Family reunification following the Sichuan earthquake in China

* Hurricane Katrina relief work in New Orleans
* Childrens' health initiatives in Africa.

If you would like to contribute Asia Miles points to further the activities of this worthwhile program, please visit the Asia Miles website at www.asiamiles.com and donate your points to the C.A.R.E. Housing Society.
